Steven Paul Williams, age 78, on January 30, 2023 went home to meet Jesus and be reunited with family and friends who went before him. Steve was quite a character, he loved and played all kinds of sports. He also loved horse racing and was well known at Beulah Park as a horse owner and trainer. Steve may have been short in stature, but to those who knew him he was 10ft tall and bullet proof. He always embraced life and had many adventures. He had two nicknames "We Be" and also "Babydoll" which he acquired from playing softball for Jerry Spears Funeral Home. Graduate of Grove City High School and retired from General Motors after thirty years.
Steve will be forever missed by his wife and sparring partner, Bridget. Also survived by children: Shane (Mila) Williams, Shar (John) Weber and Scott (Jenny) Williams; 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandson; stepchildren: Timothy Pelow (Denise Betts), Jason Wright, Susan (Rick) Williams and Melissa (Scott) Humm; step-grandchildren: Amanda, Andrea and Austin Betts, Chase and Sean Williams, Jessica Lunzy and Adam Cunningham; 5 great step-grandchildren; brother, Pete M. Williams; nephew, Drew (Lauren) of Florida; special friends: Hugh Bennett (whom Steve considered another son), Pat O'Connor (a lifelong friend) and Bob Gussman (other brother); he will also be missed by his faithful companion, Bear. Preceded in death by parents Louis and Susan Williams, stepmother, Isabelle Williams and son-in-law, Greg Cunningham.
Of all the things Steve accomplished in his life, he was most proud of his 22 years of sobriety.
A Gathering of Friends and Family will be held Saturday, February 4 from 1-3pm at JERRY SPEARS FUNERAL HOME with CREMATORY, 2693 West Broad St.
