Mr. Brundige was my Civics teacher, at the Athens Middle-School, during the 1974 - 75 school-year. He was an excellent teacher, and he took a genuine-interest in the well-being of his students. Mr. Brundige was one-of the teacher-chaperones on the annual eighth-graders trip-to Washington, D.C.; he helped coordinate efforts to raise money for the kids whose parents had-trouble-affording the money that each student was charged to-go. A good-man and a class-act.

Gene was helpful to me and to the church I was serving during a very difficult time.

He was also a very special person.

Gene was a man of many gifts, and I knew him through his sharing and teaching of mediation. He was a compassionate, creative and wise resolver of conflict, widely sought for his expertise. Anger subsided, problems solved, relationships healed, all because of Gene's loving touch. I give thanks for his presence in my life. He truly was a man of God.

Gene was such an ally for our West Ohio Reconciling Group. He offered so much wise counsel to our group as we planned activities and mapped out our strategy. I will also miss him personally as a friend and colleague. I give thanks to God for Gene's life and witness for justice.

Gene's ministry stretched far and wide. I give thanks for his gift and passion for helping congregations navigate solutions through conflicted environments in local church settings. Despite whatever challenges he faced or the congregation was facing, he never gave up hope. I thank God for Gene's enduring ministry.

Eugene had one of the most Christlike hearts of including and embracing people I have ever witnessed. And I am amazed at his ability to change the hearts and minds of others to also include and embrace those who are poor and marginalized. Thank God for his life and ministry.

My thoughts & prayers are with you in the loss of a true servant of God. I had the joy of working with Gene many times & I cherished his friendship. He taught me much about social justice & integrity. I will never forget the time he took me to the prison to view the electric chair, talk with the warden & some prisoners on death row. It was a life changing experience for me. He was always willing to use his skills in any way he could & I called on him for help for Conference & District events many times. We served on The Board of Church & Society together & we were all blessed by his common sense, intelligence & sense of humor. His passing is a great loss.

Gene was my pastor, my friend, my colleague, my mentor and my encourager as well as my listener. Needless to say, I will greatly miss his presence in my life. God has definitely taken an angel from this earth. I'm sure Gene is sitting up there with God and observing all of us as we grieve his passing. I pray that I will be able to shake his hand one more time when I see him there. My prayers are with all his many families and friends.

Mr. B was an influential teacher and later helped me with my career choice while in college. He was a good confidant and he will be missed. My sympathies to those who loved him.
