Jerry Spears
Funeral Home would like to thank all of you for your
continued support after the unfortunate fire that we endured
on January 31, 2007. We know that many people have concerns
as to what our operation will consist of and how we plan to
move forward.
The four level structure of the building is in tact, but it
is in need of an extensive makeover. Unfortunately, the top
two levels will have to be completely rebuilt. The main floor
had a lot of water and smoke damage, but did not get anywhere
near the damage of the top two floors. If not for the smell
of smoke, we could conduct services as usual. Our lower level
and prep room area had no major damage. That part of the building
was restored two days after the fire. None of our historical
files, computer records or pre-arrangement files had any damage.
Since the fire, we have been making all of our funeral arrangements
in the homes of our families. All of the visitations and services
have been conducted in churches. We are also prepared to have
visitations anywhere that a family would like, including their
own home. We want to give our families as many options as we
can. The care of your loved one will still be handled in our
preparation rooms at our W. Broad location. Temporary office
space has been secured for our west parking lot if families
need to stop by to check on anything. We are here for you and
will be committed to helping each family like we have always
tried to do.
We have been overwhelmed with the outpouring of support. The
list is far too numerous to thank specifically, but we want
you all to know that we appreciate it and we will never forget
how you have all helped. Jerry Spears Sr. had a vision in 1928,
to help and care for each family like it was his own, and we
promise to carry on that tradition for years to come.
